Case Study: Swiss Cottage School and Research and Development Centre - Camden London

Since opening in new premises, The Swiss Cottage School has established a Teaching School. The school itself caters for children aged 2-19 with complex learning difficulties and it has been rated outstanding 5 times by OFSTED.

My work this year has been to facilitate a Middle Leaders Development Programme for both Swiss Cottage staff and staff from other special and mainstream schools. Through a small action research project the participants have aimed to build their own leadership skills and behaviours. Learning to have 'difficult conversations' and to think about a strategic approach to change have been part of our focus.

I have also been undertaking some research for the school itself in relation to a structured approach to review and planning which the school has been applying. The findings are due to be published in early 2015.
